Daal chawal

Ingredients:

  • Arhar daal                 1 cup soaked
  • Salt                            1 tsp
  • Turmeric                   1/2 tsp
  • Chili powder             1 tsp
  • Garlic paste               1/2 tsp
  • Ghee                          1/4 cup
  • Crushed garlic           1 tsp heaped
  • Red chili whole         6 pcs
  • White cumin whole   1 tsp

Ingredients for rice:

  • Rice                          250gm
  • Oil                            4 tbsp.
  • Salt                           1 tbsp
  • Whole spices mixed 1tbsp
  • Chopped onions        2 tbsp.
  • Water                         as required


Method:

  1. Take 1 cup of Arhar daal add 3 cup water, 1/2 tsp turmeric, 1 tsp chili powder,1/2 tsp garlic paste and cook it till its well done.
  2. Now with the help of a wooden spoon slightly mash the daal next take it out and place it on the serving dish.
  3. In order to make the baghaar take 1/4th cup ghee, heat it up.Add 1 tsp crushed garlic, whole red chilies,1 tsp whole white cumin and fry it once that is done put this baghaar on top of the daal and serve this daal with the rice.

Method for cooking rice:

  1. Take 4 tbsps of oil and fry 2 tbsps of onions until they are light golden.
  2. Now add 1 tbsp of whole spices mixed, 2 1/2 cup of water and 1 tbsp salt cook it till the water comes to a boil.
  3. Add in the soaked rice and keep it on dam (meaning finish cooking on low heat) for 5 minutes
  4. In the end serve it with the daal.
