Prawns biryani

Ingredients;

  • Prawns                        1 kg   
  • Rice                           1/2 kg
  • Garam masala         3 tbsp
  • Salt                             1 tbsp
  • Oil                            1/3 cup
  • Garlic                        2 tbsp
  • Ginger                       2 tbsp
  • Kewra                     1/2 cup
  • Yoghurt                      2 cup
  •  Star anise                    2
  •  Curry leaf                 as req
  • Cumin seeds              2 tbsp
  • Coriander                   2 tbsp
  • Yellow food color   1 pinch
  • Crushed red chili      3 tbsp
  • Turmeric                   1/2 tsp
  • Onion                             2

Method;

  1. Heat oil in a pan ,  fry onion and garlic.
  2. Add red chilli powder , turmeric, cumin, coriander , salt , star anise and yoghurt.
  3. Cook for a while then add prawns and cook on high flame.
  4.  When oil comes out, add curry leaf and kewra and turm the flame off.
  5. Now sprinkle garam masala.
  6. Boil  water in a pot, add salt .
  7. When it comes to a rolling boil  add rice and boil for 10 mins 
  8. Strain the rice and layer it with the prawn gravy.
  9. Mix yellow color with water and sprinkle over the biryani .
  10. Give it steam for 10 mins.
  11. Serve hot.

  • @desi chef, yes u can take measuring cup but take slightly heaped. Just keep us in your duas.....do let us know how it turn out.

  • @desi chef, I always take this ratio 1cup= 3 persons and I think spice girl is right 4 cup is enough for 10 persons and if it's iftaar dinner and u also have other things also.if you have good quality rice then more barkaat .I hope this will help u and ur dinner party goes well watch shireen anwar shows most of the time she mention how many people can eat that dish .

  • it will be so nice if chefs tell how many people the recipe will be good to, a big help, cuz estimation is my weak point, i always end up cooking too much.i think 4c of rice will be enough in your case.
