Karahi Biryani, Masala Egg Curry And Doodhi Halwa by Rida Aftab

Ingredients for Doodhi Halwa:

  • Bottle gourd 2 kg
  • Khoya 1/2 kg
  • Dry milk powder 1 cup
  • Cardamom 6
  • Desiccated coconut 50 gm
  • Almonds & pistachio 100 gm
  • Sugar 250 gm
  • Ghee 250 gm
  • Green color 1/2 tsp

Method:

  1. Boil bottle gourd.
  2. Now heat ghee in pot and put cardamom. When fragrance comes, add bottle gourd and roast it.
  3. Now put some water in powder milk and dissolve it.
  4. Then, first add sugar in bottle gourd.
  5. After that, put milk, green color, desiccated coconut and roast for few minutes.
  6. In end, sprinkle khoya, almonds and pistachios and serve.

Ingredients for Karahi Biryani:

  • Rice boiled 1/2 kg
  • Chicken 1/2 kg
  • Tomatoes 1/2 kg
  • Red chilli powder 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder 1 tsp
  • Salt 1 tsp
  • Black cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • Whole black pepper 1 tsp
  • Bay leaves 2
  • Green cardamom 6
  • Dried plum 50 gm
  • Ginger garlic paste 1 tbsp
  • Green chilies 6
  • Mint leaves 1 bunch
  • Ginger Julian 2 tbsp
  • Lemon 2
  • Fried onion 1/2 cup
  • Dalda cooking oil 1/2 cup

Method:

  1. Heat oil in pan, put chicken and make it golden brown.
  2. Now put ginger garlic paste, chopped red chili, turmeric, chopped coriander, chopped cumin, chopped black pepper, curry leaves, small cardamoms, salt, dried plum and tomatoes in ti and roast on high flame.
  3. Then put lemon juice, green chilies, chopped ginger and mint and put boiled rice on top.
  4. In end, add fried onions, simmer for 20 minutes and then serve.

Ingredients for Masala Egg Curry:

  • Egg boiled 6
  • Onion (sliced) 2
  • Tomatoes crushed 250 gm
  • Garlic crushed 1 tsp
  • Ginger crushed 1 tsp
  • Fresh coriander 1/2 bunch
  • Turmeric 1/2 tsp
  • Red chili powder 2 tsp
  • Cumin powder 2 tsp
  • Tomato paste 2 tbsp
  • Salt 1 tsp
  • All spice powder 1 tsp
  • Curry leaves 4
  • Oil 1/2 cup

Method:

  1. Heat oil in pan and fry garlic and chopped ginger.
  2. When fragrance comes, put water, salt, chopped red chili, turmeric, chopped cumin, all spice powder and curry leaves, mash it and roast it.
  3. When oil comes on top, add tomatoes, chopped onions and tomato paste and roast on high flame.
  4. Then put 4 pieces of boiled eggs, put green coriander on top and mix it.
  5. Dish is ready.

  • Made this karahi biryani this friday . This biryani is little different as it uses bombay biryani masala, lots of tomatoes. I used only 1 tbsp biryani masala for 1/2 kg chicken as its a very spicy masala and about 300-350 gms tomatoes. I added extra lemon juice at the end. Its a very tasty biryani so plz dont hesitate to try.
