Chana Daal Cabbage by Zarnak Sidhwa

Ingredients for Chana Daal Cabbage:

  • Cabbage 1
  • Split bengal gram 1 cup
  • Oil 2 tbsp
  • Curry leaves 8
  • Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  • Chopped ginger 1 inch
  • Chopped garlic 3 cloves
  • Chopped onion 1
  • Salt to taste
  • Red chili powder 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • Chopped tomato 1
  • Chopped coriander 2 tbsp

Method:

  1. Pressure-cook the chana daal with 1 cup water till done.
  2. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a non-stick pan, heat oil, add curry leaves, mustard seeds, ginger, garlic and onions.
  4. Saute well till soft
  5. Add cabbage and toss well.
  6. Add salt and 1/2 cup water.
  7. Cover and cook on low heat till done.
  8. Add red chili powder, turmeric powder, tomatoes and chana daal.
  9. Cook for five minutes.
  10. Add coriander leaves and serve hot.
