Mulligatawny Chicken by Shireen Anwer

Ingredients:

  • Chicken 1 kg or 16 pieces
  • Ginger garlic 1 tbsp
  • Onion 1 raw
  • Water 2 cups
  • Curry leaves few
  • Salt 1-1/2 tsp
  • Oil 1/2 cup
  • Coconut milk 1 cup
  • Lemon juice 2 tbsp
  • Curry powder 1 tsp
  • Dry red chilies 10
  • Coriander seeds 1 tbsp
  • White cumin 1 tsp
  • Poppy seeds 1 tsp

Method:

  1. First grind dry red chilies, coriander seeds, white cumin and poppy seeds with ginger garlic and raw onion and make paste.
  2. Now heat oil and fry this paste nicely.
  3. Then add little water and chicken pieces and fry it nicely.
  4. Then put salt, curry powder, curry leaves and 1 cup water.
  5. Now cover it and keep on simmer until chicken is approx ready.
  6. Then put coconut milk, raw onion and lemon juice and cook for 10 minutes until it becomes thick.
  7. In end, serve with boiled rice.
