Butter Chicken by Zarnak Sidhwa

Ingredients:

  • Cubed chicken 1/2 kg

Marinade:

  • Red chilli powder 1 tsp
  • Ginger garlic paste 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Yogurt 1/2 kg

For Gravy:

  • Butter 100 gm
  • Black cumin seeds 1/2 tsp
  • Tomato (pureed) 1/2 kg
  • Sugar 1/2 tsp
  • Red chilli powder 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Butter 75 gm
  • Cream 100 gm
  • Sliced green chillies 4
  • Crushed fenugreek leaves 1/2 tsp

Method:

  1. Mix red chilli powder, ginger garlic paste, salt and yogurt together.
  2. Now mix the chicken in the marinade and keep it in the refrigerator overnight.
  3. Then roast the marinated chicken in an oven for about 5-10 minutes till it is three fourth done.
  4. For the chicken gravy: Heat butter in pan.
  5. Add black cumin seeds, tomato puree, sugar, red chilli powder, and salt. Mix it well.
  6. Now add the chicken, butter, cream, sliced green chillies and crushed fenugreek leaves.
  7. Cook till chicken is done.
  8. Butter Chicken is ready to serve with rice or naan.
