Dipped Cookies by Zarnak Sidhwa

Ingredients:
- Flour 2 cups
- Salt 1/4 tsp
- Caster sugar 3/4 cup
- Egg 1
- Vanilla essence 1 tsp
- Colored sugar 1/4 cup
- Butter 3/4 cup
Method:
- Combine flour and salt. Cream butter and sugar.
- Add egg and vanilla and beat until well blended.
- Add flour mixture. Do not over mix.
- Gather dough into a ball.
- Flatter ball into disk and wrap tightly in plastic wrap.
- Refrigerate 1 hour until firm.
- On a floured surface, roll out dough to 1/4 inch thickness.
- With cookie cutters, cut dough into desired shapes and place on ungreased cookie sheets.
- Decorate with colored sugar or sprinkles.
- Bake for 13-15 minutes, being careful not to brown.
- Immediately transfer cookies with a spatula to cool, flat surface.
- Store in air tight tin once cooled completely.
