Dipped Cookies by Zarnak Sidhwa

Ingredients:

  • Flour 2 cups
  • Salt 1/4 tsp
  • Caster sugar 3/4 cup
  • Egg 1
  • Vanilla essence 1 tsp
  • Colored sugar 1/4 cup
  • Butter 3/4 cup

Method:

  1. Combine flour and salt. Cream butter and sugar.
  2. Add egg and vanilla and beat until well blended.
  3. Add flour mixture. Do not over mix.
  4. Gather dough into a ball.
  5. Flatter ball into disk and wrap tightly in plastic wrap.
  6. Refrigerate 1 hour until firm.
  7. On a floured surface, roll out dough to 1/4 inch thickness.
  8. With cookie cutters, cut dough into desired shapes and place on ungreased cookie sheets.
  9. Decorate with colored sugar or sprinkles.
  10. Bake for 13-15 minutes, being careful not to brown.
  11. Immediately transfer cookies with a spatula to cool, flat surface.
  12. Store in air tight tin once cooled completely.
