Chocolate Samosas by Zarnak Sidhwa

Ingredients:

  • Dark chocolate 1 cup
  • Flour 1-1/2 cup
  • Caster sugar 4 tbsp
  • Caster sugar 1 tsp
  • Ghee 2 tbsp
  • Pistachio slivers 1 tbsp
  • Sugar 1 cup
  • Oil for deep-frying

Method:

  1. Combine flour, 4 tbsp caster sugar and ghee in bowl.
  2. Mix well and rub till it resembles breadcrumb texture.
  3. Add sufficient water and knead into semi-stiff dough.
  4. Refrigerate for 10 minutes.
  5. Combine chocolate, pistachio and 1 tsp castor sugar and mix well
  6. Divide dough into 8 equal portions and roll out into medium size rotis.
  7. Cut rotis into halves.
  8. Apply water on one edge half and roll into small cone.
  9. Reserve some chocolate mixture for garnishing and place spoonful of chocolate mixture from remaining into cone and seal to make samosa.
  10. Similar prepare the remaining.
  11. Prepare thick sugar syrup by cooking sugar in 1 cup water. Heat oil.
  12. Deep fry samosas on low heat till golden and crisp.
  13. Drain on absorbent paper. Dip samosas in sugar syrup and soak them well.
  14. Garnish with reserved chocolate mixture and serve immediately.
