Shahi Tukray by Zarnak Sidhwa

Ingredients:

  • White bread 8 slices
  • Milk 2 cups
  • Caster sugar 1 cup
  • Cardamom pods 2
  • Cloves 2
  • Cinnamon sticks 2
  • Saffron 1 pinch
  • Sliced almonds 1/2 cup
  • Oil 1 cup

Method:

  1. Cut white bread slices in 2-inch squares.
  2. Heat oil, fry bread squares until crispy and brown and take out in paper lined plate.
  3. Put milk and sugar in saucepan, boil it, reduce heat, add cardamom, cloves, cinnamon sticks, and saffron and cook for 15 minutes.
  4. Then take out all whole spices from mixture and cool remaining mixture. Arrange bread i flat serving dish put mixture over bread and chill in refrigerator for 2 to 3 hours.
  5. Garnish with almonds and serve.
