Chocolate Tart by Zarnak Sidhwa

Ingredients:

For Crust:

  • Icing sugar 1/2 cup
  • Walnuts 1/2 cup
  • Flour 3/4 cup
  • Salt 1/2 tsp
  • Butter cubed 1/2 cup
  • Cocoa powder 1/4 cup

For Filling:

  • Chocolate chopped 14 oz
  • Cream 1 cup
  • Butter 100 gm
  • Eggs 2
  • Caster sugar 1/4 cup
  • Vanilla essence 1 tsp
  • Cocoa powder for dusting

Method:

  1. For crust: Grind icing sugar and walnuts in food processor.
  2. Then add flour, cocoa powder and salt and grind finely.
  3. Now put butter cubes and grind it nicely.
  4. Make layer of mixture in 10 inch lightly grease tart pan of which base can be separated and make hole with fork.
  5. Then bake on 180 degrees C for 15-18 minutes.
  6. Cool tart on wire rack until filling is ready.
  7. For filling: Melt chocolate in double boiler.
  8. Now mix cream and butter nicely.
  9. Then remove from stove, add eggs and caster sugar and mix it nicely.
  10. Now add vanilla essence, put on hot crust and bake for 10-12 minutes on 180 degrees C.
  11. Filling should be set on edges and center should be like jelly.
  12. Keep tart pan on wire rack, cool tart for approx 1 to 1-1/2 hours or cool tart in fridge for 1 hour and take it out.
  13. For serving: Open side of tart pan, sprinkle cocoa powder, cut into pieces and serve.
