Baklava

Ingredients:

  • Manda patti 1 pkt
  • walnuts 1/2 kg
  • butter 250 gms
  • bread crumbs 2 cups
  • sugar 2 cups
  • water 2 cup
  • lemon juice 2 tbsp
  • rose water 4 tsp
  • honey 4 tsp

Method:

  1. Mix manda pattis with butter in a bowl and leave for a little while.
  2. In a bowl mix walnuts and bread crumbs and keep aside.
  3. Add water and sugar in a pan and cook. Then add in rose water and lemon juice and cook for another 10 minutes.
  4. In a separate pan put the manda patti then add the walnut mixture and press with your hands.
  5. Then put another layer of manda patti and the walnut mixture and press again.
  6. Then a final layer of the manda patti and cut in to squares.
  7. Bake it in the oven for 15 to 20 minutes.
  8. After taking it out of the oven add the sugar mixture and leave it to cool.

Basbousa

Ingredients:

  • semolina 1/2 kg
  • butter 1/2 kg
  • eggs 9
  • coconut 400 gms
  • yougurt 600gms
  • sugar 400 gms
  • pistachios 100 gms

For sugar syrup:

  • Sugar 1 kg
  • water 1/2 kg
  • glucose 100 gms
  • lemon juice  of 1 lemon
  • serewpine 100 gms

Method:

  1. Add semolina to melted butter then add in eggs , yogurt and sugar and mix it together.
  2. Then add this mixture to a greased pan
  3. Put it in the oven at a heat of 170 degree for 25 minutes.
  4. Take it out of the oven and pour on the sugar syrup
  5. Garnish with pistachios and serve

Sugar syrup method:

  1. Prepare a sugar and water mixture.
  2. then add in glucose, lemon juice and serewpine.
  3. sugar mixture is ready.
