Ingredients:
- Beef (boneless) 1 kg
- Salt 1 tbsp
- Red chili powder 2 tsp
- Turmeric powder 1 tsp
- Bay leaves 2
- Split Bengal gram 200 gm
- Red lentils 100 gm
- Green gram 100 gm
- Rice 50 gm
- Pigeon peas 50 gm
- Black lentils 50 gm
- Whole wheat 250 gm
- Barley 50 gm
- Oil 1 cup
Garnish:
- Garam masala 1 tsp
- Onions 2 (large)
- Lemons 3 to 4
- Green chilies 10 to 12
- Chopped coriander leaves 1 cup
- Ginger (sliced) 1/4 cup
Method:
- Soak all three grains overnight.
- Fry meat in oil.
- Add 1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp chili powder, bay leaves and 6-8 glasses of water.
- Cook till meat is extremely soft.
- Meanwhile, put grains and pulses in a pan with 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp chili powder and 1/2 tsp turmeric powder.
- Add water and cook on low flame till very soft.
- When meat and grains are soft mix them together, leave on a very low flame and keep mashing.
- It is ready when it starts to boil and becomes bubbly.
- Fry onion in oil for bhagar.
- Add oil to mixture and keep aside the fried onion for garnishing.
- Remove from heat and serve with garam masala, coriander leaves, green chilies, fried onion and lemon wedges.
