Date Chutney by Zarnak Sidhwa

Ingredients:
- Cinnamon stick 1
- Cloves 1 tsp
- Dates pitted 300 gm
- Malt vinegar 3/4 cup
- Packed brown sugar 1/4 cup
- Salt 1 tsp
- Oil 2 tbsp
Method:
- Place cinnamon and cloves in muslin cloth and tie it.
- Combine dates, vinegar, sugar, salt and oil in saucepan and cook over medium heat.
- Add spice parcel.
- Cook, stirring, for few minutes or until mixture comes to boil.
- Reduce heat to low.
- Simmer, partially, covered, stirring occasionally for 20 minutes or until dates are soft and mixture is thick.
- Remove from heat. Cool.
- Remove and discard spice parcel.
- Serve.
