Mash Ki Daal Ky Dahi Baray by Shireen Anwer

Ingredients:

  • White lentil 250 gm
  • Yogurt 1 kg
  • Salt 1 tsp
  • Chaat masala 1 tsp
  • Baking powder 1-1/2 tsp
  • Soda 1/2 tsp
  • Caster sugar 4 tbsp
  • Crushed red pepper 1 tsp

For Chutney:

  • Tamarind pulp 1/2 cup
  • Cumin powder 1 tsp
  • Ginger powder 1 tsp
  • Sugar or Jaggery 2 tbsp
  • Water 1/2 cup
  • Red chili powder 1/2 tsp

Method:

  1. For chutney: Soak tamarind and take out its pulp.
  2. Now add remaining ingredients and cook until it is thick.
  3. For dahi baray: Put white lentil in bowl.
  4. Now add salt and water, mix it nicely, beat it nicely and leave for 15 minutes.
  5. Then add baking powder and soda.
  6. Now heat oil in frying pan, make baray, put in frying pan and fry it.
  7. Then take it out and soak in lukewarm water for 15 minutes.
  8. Now take out baray from water, press with hands and take out all water.
  9. Now mix salt and sugar in yogurt, add baray in yogurt and put chutney on top.
  10. Then sprinkle with chaat masala, garnish with green coriander and green chilies and serve.
