Chocolate Pudding by Zarnak Sidhwa

Ingredients:

For Milk Chocolate Pastry Cream:

  • Milk 3 cups
  • Chopped milk chocolate 3 oz
  • Chopped chocolate 1 oz
  • Egg yolks 6
  • Sugar 1/2 cup
  • Corn flour 3 tbsp

Other Ingredients:

  • Vanilla essence 1/2 tsp
  • Chocolate wafer cookies 12 oz
  • Bananas peeled 4
  • Cream 2 cups
  • Milk chocolate shavings for garnish

Method:

  1. Put milk in saucepan and simmer it.
  2. Whisk in both chocolates and heat until melted and smooth.
  3. Remove from heat.
  4. Whisk yolks, sugar and corn flour in bowl.
  5. Slowly whisk in chocolate milk mixture and put mixture in sauce pan over medium heat and whisk until thickened.
  6. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla and transfer to clean bowl.
  7. Put piece of plastic wrap directly over surface of pastry cream and let cool to room temperature.
  8. Spoon about 1 cup of pastry cream into flat glass dish.
  9. Layer wafer cookies, bananas and pastry cream in bowl, ending with pastry cream.
  10. Cover tightly and refrigerate until chilled, at least 4 hours or overnight.
  11. Spread whipped cream over top of pudding, sprinkle with chocolate savings and serve.
