Spicy Mince Burgers by Zarnak Sidhwa

Ingredients:

  • Oil 1 tbsp
  • Onion finely chopped 1
  • Ginger finely chopped 1 inch
  • Garlic cloves 2
  • Green chilies 3
  • Beef mince 1/2 kg
  • Salt 1 pinch
  • Ground cumin 2 tsp
  • Ground coriander 3 tsp
  • Ground turmeric 1/2 tsp
  • Red chili powder 1-2 tsp
  • Chopped coriander leaves 2 tbsp

Spicy Potato Wedges:

  • Potatoes 1/2 kg
  • Oil 1 tbsp
  • Ground cumin 2 tsp
  • Red chili powder 2 tsp
  • Red chili powder 2 tsp
  • White pepper 1 tsp
  • Salt 2 tsp
  • Mango powder 1 tsp

To Serve:

  • Burger buns 4-6

Method:

  1. For spicy potato wedges: Bring large pan of salted water to boil and add potato wedges.
  2. Boil for 5-6 minutes, then drain.
  3. Place par boiled potatoes on baking tray, drizzle with oil, then toss to coat.
  4. Put tray in oven at 180 degrees C and roast for 20-25 minutes or until golden and crisp.
  5. Mix ingredients for spices, blend it and put on potatoes.
  6. Heat oil, cook onion until softened and slightly colored.
  7. Add ginger, garlic and green chili and continue to fry until cooked.
  8. Put minced beef in bowl, add onion mixture and remaining ingredients and mix well.
  9. Shape into 4-6 burgers.
  10. Heat frying pan.
  11. Brush burger with little oil and cook.
  12. Serve burgers in buns, with wedges alongside and some ketchup for dipping.
