Double Ka Meetha by Zarnak Sidhwa

Ingredients:

  • White bread slices 2
  • Brown bread slices 2
  • Saffron pinch
  • Rose water 2 tsp
  • Sugar 3-1/2 tbsp
  • Milk 1 cup
  • Cream 3 tbsp
  • Clarified butter 2 tbsp
  • Almonds blanched & sliced 3-4
  • Pistachios sliced 3-4

Method:

  1. Soak saffron in rose water.
  2. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C.
  3. Make thin syrup of sugar with 2 tbsp water and set aside
  4. Boil milk and simmer till it reduces to half its original quantity.
  5. Cut out rounds of bread slices.
  6. Heat ghee in pan and shallow fry bread rounds till lightly browned.
  7. Soak them in sugar syrup for half a minute.
  8. Drain and place them on a baking tray.
  9. Mix cream in milk and spread thickened milk over them.
  10. Sprinkle almonds, pistachios and saffron and rose water.
  11. Place tray in preheated oven and bake for 5-7 minutes.
  12. Serve warm.
