Ingredients:

  • Pigeon peas/Red gram 1 cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Button red chilies 8
  • Green chilies (finely chopped) 6
  • Turmeric 1 tsp
  • Garlic (peeled & chopped) 6 cloves
  • Raw mango finely chopped 1
  • Ghee/Oil 1 cup
  • Butter 2 tbsp

Method:

  1. Wash red gram with lukewarm water and soak it.
  2. Now take out its water, add fresh lukewarm water and cook it.
  3. Also put turmeric and stir in with wooden spoon.
  4. When daal tender, grind in blender, put again in pot, put green chilies, red chilies, salt and raw mango and cook it nicely.
  5. When daal and masalay are mixed, put butter.
  6. Before serve, heat daal, take out in bowl, heat ghee or oil, add garlic, fry until golden brown and put bhagar on daal.
  7. Then serve hot daal with plain rice.

Lakhnavi Daal is delicious & spicy. Butter gives rich flavor. It is prepared with Red gram and you must try this at home.
