Ingredients:

  • Surmai fish 1 kg
  • Onion paste 1 cup
  • Yogurt 250 gm
  • Red chili powder 2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder 1 tsp
  • Salt 1/2 tsp
  • Desiccated coconut 2 tsp
  • Ground poppy seeds 2 tsp
  • Dried fenugreek leaves 1 tsp
  • Oil 1/2 cup
  • Lemon juice 4 tbsp
  • Ginger garlic paste 1 tbsp
  • All spice powder 1/2 tsp

Method:

  1. Marinate fish with lemon juice and ginger garlic paste for 2 hours.
  2. Now heat oil, put fish, fry it slightly and take it out.
  3. Then put onion paste, red chili powder, turmeric, salt, coconut, poppy seeds, fenugreek seeds, all spice powder and beaten yogurt in remaining oil.
  4. Now roast it nicely.
  5. Then add 2 glass water and cook for 10 minutes.
  6. Then put fish, cook more for 10 minutes, close stove and sprinkle green chilies and coriander leaves.

Machli Ka Salan is healthy & spicy dish. It is also common dish in Pakistan. It is usually served with rice.
