Ingredients:

  • Mash daal 1 cup
  • Moong daal 1 cup
  • Yogurt 1 kg
  • Small onion 1
  • Garlic cloves 4
  • Almonds 10
  • Fresh milk 1 small packet
  • Sweet soda 1 tsp
  • Corn flour 1 tbsp
  • Sugar as required
  • Chaat masala as required
  • Imli ki khatti meethi chutney as required
  • Oil for fry
  • Salt to taste

Method:

  1. Soak both daal separately with lukewarm water and soak it for 2-3 hours.
  2. Now take out of both daal and grind it finely with onion and garlic in chopper.
  3. Now mix soda, salt and almonds and beat it nicely.
  4. Also mix sugar, salt, corn flour and milk in yogurt and beat it nicely.
  5. Now mix 2 tbsp yogurt and water in pot.
  6. Then heat oil in wok and start frying dahi bharay.
  7. Stir it with steel spoon.
  8. When golden brown, take it out and put in yogurt water.
  9. Take it out after 2 minutes and press with hand.
  10. Then put half yogurt in big and wide dish, spread dahi bharay and put yogurt on top.
  11. Then put almonds, chaat masala and khatti meethi chutney and serve it.
  12. Keep with chaat masala and khatti meethi chutney.

Dahi Bharay is very popular & common street food in Pakistan. It is commonly eaten in Ramadan. It is prepared with yogurt & lentils.
