Khatti Dal

Ingredients:

  • Masoor dal 250 gm
  • Chopped tomatoes 2
  • Turmeric 1/2 tsp
  • Red chili powder 1 tsp
  • Ginger garlic 1 tbsp

More Ingredients:

  • Tamarind pulp 1/2 tsp
  • Salt 1 tsp
  • Green chilies 2
  • Chopped coriander leaves 2 tbsp
  • Curry leaves 10-12

For Bhagar:

  • Oil 1/2 cup
  • Crushed garlic 1 tbsp
  • Whole red chilies 8
  • White cumin1 tsp
  • Mustard 1 tsp
  • Curry leaves few

Method:

  1. Put dal with 2 cups water in pan.
  2. Now add tomatoes, turmeric, red chili powder and ginger garlic.
  3. Then put green chilies and coriander leaves.
  4. When dal is soft, blend in blender.
  5. Then put salt and tamarind pulp and cook for 10 minutes.
  6. Then give bhagar to dal, cook for 5 minutes and serve with boiled rice.

Khatti Dal is South Asian cuisine. The flavor of tamarind in sour (khatti). It is prepared with masoor dal & served with rice.
