Dal Palak

Ingredients:
- Chana daal 2 cups
- Spinach 1 cup
- Turmeric 1 tsp
- Salt to taste
For Tempering:
- Ghee 2 tbsp
- Chopped onion 2
- Chopped garlic 2 tsp
- Chopped ginger 2 tsp
- Chopped green chilies 2-3
- Chopped tomatoes 2
- Red chili powder 1 tsp
- Cumin 1 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Lemon juice as required
Method:
- Put chana daal in water and soak it overnight.
- Then strain it next morning, wash with clean water, put in pressure cooker with 4-5 cups water, turmeric, spinach and salt and cook it.
- When ready, keep it aside.
- For tempering: Heat ghee and crackle cumin.
- Now add garlic and fry until golden.
- Then add onion and fry until dark brown.
- Now add ginger, green chilies, tomatoes, red chili powder and salt and put on daal.
- Then sprinkle lemon juice and serve.
Dal Palak is delicious dish. The combination of chana daal & spinach is wonderful. You can serve it with roti or rice.
