Ingredients:

  • Medium potatoes 1 kg
  • Turmeric 1 tsp
  • Fenugreek seeds 1 tsp
  • Onion seeds 1 tsp
  • Fennel seeds 1 tsp
  • Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  • White cumin seeds 1 tbsp
  • Crushed red chilies 2 tbsp
  • Whole coriander 2 tbsp
  • Tamarind paste 2 tbsp
  • Lemon juice 4 tbsp
  • Oil as required
  • Salt to taste

For Garnish:

  • Finely chopped green chilies 4
  • Finely chopped coriander leaves 1/2 bunch
  • Finely chopped mint leaves 1/2 bunch

Method:

  1. Mix whole coriander, white cumin, mustard, fenugreek and fennel and roast on tawa slightly.
  2. Now mix onion seeds, red chilies, tamarind paste, lemon juice and salt in this masalay and keep in bowl.
  3. Then wash potatoes nicely, boil for 7-10 minutes and peel it.
  4. Now make cross mark on it, fill masala in it, spread on pot and steam it for 5 minutes.
  5. Now heat oil in pot, deep fry potatoes and put in pan to keep hot.
  6. Then keep potatoes on dish, put green chilies, coriander leaves and mint leaves and serve hot.

Khattay Aloo is very delicious & spicy dish. It is street food in Pakistan. It is served with curry & chana. You can make it at home easily.
