Ingredients:
- Rice 3 cups
- Ghee 1 cup
- Milk 1 cup
- Cloves 4
- Ashrafiyaan few
- Finely chopped almonds 10
- Finely chopped pistachios 10
- Small cardamom 6-8
- Sugar 2-1/2 cups
- Yellow color 1/2 tsp
- Water as required
Method:
- Soak rice.
- Heat water in big pot and put soaked rice, 3 cloves and 3-4 small cardamom.
- When rice boils till half done, drain water and dry it nicely.
- Now put rice on large platter and mix yellow color and milk.
- Also add almonds, pistachios, sugar and ashrafiyaan.
- Then heat ghee and put remaining cloves and cardamom.
- When aroma comes, add rice, stir it, cover it and keep on high flame for 5 minutes.
- Then put pot on tawa and low flame after few minutes.
- Zarda is ready.
Zarda is traditional South Asian sweet rice dish. It is commonly served in parties in Pakistan. It is prepared with rice, milk, nuts and ashrafiyaan.
