Jamaican Patties Recipe

Ingredients:
For Filling:
- Oil 2 tbsp
- Finely chopped onion 1
- Crushed garlic 2 cloves
- Crushed red chili 1
- Beef mince 500 gm
- Curry powder 3 tbsp
- Chopped tomatoes 8
- Stock 150 ml
For Pastry:
- Flour 450 gm
- Turmeric powder 2 tsp
- Salt 1 tsp
- Butter 225 gm
- Cold water 7 tbsp
- Egg 1
Method:
- Heat oil in pan and fry onion slightly.
- Now out garlic and red chili and cook for 3 minutes.
- Then put beef mince and curry powder and cook for 10 minutes.
- Then put tomatoes and stock and simmer it for 20 minutes until meat tender.
- For pastry: Put flour, turmeric powder, salt and butter in blender and blend until it becomes crumbs.
- Then put cold water and blend until mixture combines.
- Now wrap in cling film for 10 minutes and keep in fridge.
- Now roll in pastry dough, fill with mince filling, brush with little water on edges and fold from edges.
- Now mark cut with fork on edges.
- Repeat these steps on other patties.
- Now keep patties on greased tray, brush with egg and bake on 200 degrees C for 25 minutes.
Jamaican Patties is new patties. Dough is prepared with flour, stuffed with beef mince mixture, closed from edges and baked. It is can be prepared with other meat and vegetables.
