amnah so sweet of u to write down DP sauce. I substitute 1 tsp worcester sauce plus 1 tsp barbecue sauce for 1 tbsp DP sauce in my recipes. I too find it difficult to find DP sauce in usa. I think its mostly available in UK.
Heres a DP sauce recipe that i took from a website, from what shireen auntie has described DP sauce to be on some of her shows, this recipe sounds quite authentic, hope it'll be useful!
DP SAUCE:
oil 2tbsp
onion,finely chopped 2tbsp
ginger chopped 1tsp
garlic chopped 1tsp
apple peeled and chopped 1 medium
tomato medium,blended and strained 1
raisins 2tbsp
dates, soaked in warm water 2
dried prunes,soaked in water 8
ornage juice 1/2 cup
thick tamarind pulp 1/2 cup
sugar 4tbsp
salt 1tsp
chilli powder 1/2 tsp
garam masala powder 1/2 tsp
Heat 2tbsp oil in a sucepan and add onions and saute till soft but doesnt change colour, then add ginger and garlic.stir a few times and add apples, tomatoes and all above mentioned ingredients.cook till it forms a thick smooth paste then blend it well.pour in a jar and preserve in the fridge! good luck :)
